How to find the right life coach?

How to find the right life coach?

Hello my name is Sirin Ortanca and I am a life and business coach in London. I want to share my tops tips on how to find the right life coach for you and what to look for and consider when choosing a life coach where ever you are in the world.

How should I choose the right life coach?

Asking yourself how to choose the right life coach for you is something you definitely need to ask yourself. Every coach is different, they come from a different walk of life, have had different experiences, use different techniques, and all have different personalities. So how do you choose the right life coach?

When looking for a life coach, or a business coach, here are my top tips for finding the right one for you:

1. Knowing whether you need your coach in person or online is really important. Sometimes people feel they may need a coach face to face but actually a great coach can deliver the same results whether that be online or face to face. I offer sessions online, and if I am in the same city will also do face to face sessions with my clients.

2. Ask yourself what do you want help with? A life coach can help in many different areas, but many coaches often specialise in a specific area too. Although a life coach can help you with work, career, social, environmental, health etc, you may decide that you want to work with a coach that specialises in only one area.

3. Do a google search, ask friends and family if they know any coaches, and check out social media. Life coaches in various areas can be found across the web, so once you have got clear on number 1 and 2 start researching.

4. Check out the coach’s website, their social media, and any testimonials. You may get a feel for what the coach focuses on, how they work and maybe their personality too. Looking at their background may influence your choice too. I have over 14 years experience in business and the health & fitness industry so many people often choose to work with myself because they want to work particularly on mindset, confidence, lifestyle, health or opening a small business. You can read more about me here.

5. Choose maybe 2 or 3 coaches that you might like to work with and arrange a call. Having a call with your potential coach will really help you decide which coach is right for you.

6. Find out how your coach works, what programmes they have, how they may work with you, and get a feel to see if you think they can help you. Each coach will work in a different way, use different tools and techniques and have different programmes. You need to be able to trust that the coach will be able to help you; you may not KNOW, but you should feel that you can TRUST in them that they will.

7. Ask yourself if you felt a connection with the coach. You will be sharing a lot of personal information and you need to feel that you would be able to talk to them freely and share your thoughts.

Choosing the right life coach is a unique experience; it does very much depend on where you are based ( I have had coaches based in UAE, Dubai, New York and Ibiza), the type of coaching you want, what you can afford, who you feel may be able to help you, and the connection you feel with that coach.

Ultimately only you can decide who the right coach for you is, and so my ultimate advice when choosing the right life coach would be to go with your gut, and follow your instincts. If it feels right it probably is, and if it doesn’t, well then it probably isn’t. If you feel there is something holding you back form working with that person, ask yourself what it may be, and never be afraid to discuss it with the coach.
